Moving to North Salt Lake

Sooooooo, it's been a while.  We got married, went on a bunch of trips, and then I started working full time.  Life got busy and I kept to a small list of priorities:  Dillon, work, and food.  All that taking care of Dillon stuff sure left no time for blogging.  Just kidding, we all know it was the food that kept me occupied.

But recently we moved up to the city of North Salt Lake (it is its own city, who knew?) to be closer to Dillon's work.  Some of you may know that he works for the church.  That meant that while we were living in Provo he had to commute up to SLC everyday ( :/ :/ :/ ).  We lived two blocks north of the FrontRunner station (the commuter train from Provo to SLC) so that was nice, but almost 1.5 hours each way was not so nice.  So after a year and a half of that, pack up and move, we did!

We found a nice little place for a good price right by a bus stop where multiple buses a day head into downtown.  I'll be honest, I absolutely LOVED our apartment in Provo.  It was so hard for me to leave the life we had built there (and the big, wonderful kitchen and natural light).  But when we found our little place, we both felt so good about it that we went ahead and signed ASAP.  It was hard to think this place could be as good, but, despite being smaller, it is just as good, great even.  We feel so good about where we are right now. I was also super jazzed about the fact that if we moved, I would be able to quit my job--there was no way making that commute work. There were zero convenient stations by us or my work.

And that brings me to the basic point of this post--pictures of our new place that I had time to take and post because I DON'T HAVE A JOB ANYMORE.  I'm just barely learning how to do all this camera stuff that Dillon is already good at, so bare (bear, bayre, bair?) with me, por favor.

So without further ado (because my mom tells me there is too much reading and not enough pictures):

I'll be painting those mirror frames gray someday.

All of the pictures that you see in these pictures are from our wedding.  I cannot say enough good things about our photographer Rachel Thurston.  Seriously, she's amazing.
Still working on figuring out color stuff during editing...

Cute little baby shoes for someday (seriously, not pregnant--they were just on sale last spring).
Not quite sure about this corner/its colors.  Obvi we've got a bit of a grey thing going. Thoughts on the brown boxes?
Bragging moment:  Dillon MADE this bench for me. He's pretty neat.
Found this at a garage sale.  I saw it and HAD to have it since I know I had one growing up.
A newly covered pillow and always some candy.
Always.

Such a weird little dining room we've fashioned ourselves. Note the big blue snocone machine.
Dillon wrote me a birthday message when this chalkboard was still just laying around. Oooops, it was upside down at the time.  We hung it up just in time for him to write a fall saying on it for me ;)
We have this weird filing cabinet that fits NO WHERE so in the dining room it went, covered by a tablecloth and my food display things.
And the only decent shot of our bedroom because Dillon still has clothes to find a place for ;) Maybe someday we will have an actual headboard and some nightstands, but for now, natural light makes this room pretty.

And to keep it real, here's our spare bedroom looking sooooo gooooood. Our place really is quite a bit smaller than the last which makes finding places for things a little hard.  But, at least the living room and our bedroom are nice. Thanks for touring!

    1. Actually, Dillon is the keeper of crap in our house. It really is that clean in all places but the spare bedroom (which is Dillon's domain) and the kitchen. If I had it my way, that spare bedroom would be practically empty ;)

    2. Somehow I never saw this response. I can't believe you can be so clean. How do you do it? Are you super good at not impulse buying or are you just really good at throwing things away? or....other option? You are amazing. I do want an apprenticeship with you
