Miracles Happen!

So it looks like the mutant theory is real. I mean, as far as it relates to my recent MTHFR mutation diagnosis.

Our doctors still don't really think it's a thing, but Dillon and I don't think it's a coincidence that I got pregnant the very first cycle after I started taking medicine for the mutation.

I mean, nearly two and a half years, along with the fertility treatment we did, and nothing worked until we pushed for more info and tried something new.

Luckily we found a really good OB who is aware of our situation, and subsequent worries, and has told us to come in any time we want to check the heartbeat. She also sent us to maternal fetal medicine where they performed a new type of test for Downs Syndrome where they can also determine the gender. That's how we found out last week it's a girl!

We are super thrilled but also still cautiously optimistic since we still don't know what the deal is entirely. We're still a bit worried about second trimester miscarriage but we're just taking it one week at a time, currently starting week 13 today.

I definitely am ready to put the first trimester behind me and hope that the second trimester brings back my love of food. I seriously have never been repulsed by food before and have definitely never gone more than a day without dreaming of food, so the last couple months have been weird (and gross).

One of my favorite parts about pregnancy is that the day you find out you're pregnant, you're technically already 4 weeks pregnant. Weird, but great for the million week countdown.

I'm not showing yet and was a little surprised to hear that I wouldn't start showing for a while anyway. Probably once I do start showing I'll wish I weren't, naturally. But depending on the day and its bloating factor (ha) I can look a little pregnant, so if you see me on a bad day maybe don't say anything about my "bump" ;)

We are so excited and so grateful for finally getting some kind of answers and finally, finally getting pregnant! We are also so very grateful for all the love and support we have gotten from all our family and friends and couldn't wait to share with you all, but waited a little longer due to the higher risk from the mutation. But now we can celebrate together!

We are hopeful things keep going well and that come March, we'll have a bunch of pictures of a squishy little baby girl to share!
