After Rome we headed down to Naples an hour south. We had been set up by a friend of a friend with a local guy who would house us and show us around for the next couple days. It was probably the best way to see things, from a local perspective rather than a touristy perspective, since we only had three days there. A lot of the time we moved quickly from thing to thing, or ate for a really long time, so I don't have a super ton of pics from there--but we did do a lot!
After Naples we headed up by train to Florence and kind of took it easy after our fast pace/no sleep Naples experience. We went out to the Tuscan countryside and visited a small town called San Gimignano. It was really hot, but it was nice to finally have consistently good weather!
On Friday that week we took a train up to Venice TO MEET OUR HUSBANDS who had flown in the day before. Both our trains were late (always in Italy...) but we met up on the platforms! It was so good to be back with Dillon after 5 weeks! Never again, it was too long.
The next day Dillon and I walked around Venice together before getting on our cruise ship. Being able to stay in one place for an entire week was so very nice, but being with Dillon again was even better ;)
Sadly, this giant donut didn't taste as good as it looked.
Outside the (closed) Vatican
Along the Amalfi Coast. It was so beautiful!
The water was freezing!
Positano in the evening
A mozzarella factory where we got some freshly made mozzarella
And this is where we ate it
One of our Italian friends is very fit and healthy and he runs up here for his training!
The Cathedral in Florence
Such good food everywhere! I wanted to eat it all, but obviously could not.
Bikes everywhere
I brought one of those packages of sausage thingies home ;)
The little town of San Gimignano
Such cute doorways with flowers everywhere
Venice with Dillon!!
And then we were off on our cruise!
I'm so sad that donut didn't taste as good as it looks.
